Possition Summary
The Therapist I / Therapist II provides direct mental health services to individuals, families, and groups within the Family Service Center. This role supports the organization’s mission to strengthen individuals and families through accessible, community-based care. Services may be delivered in-office, in schools, or within the community.
Therapist I is typically an entry-level clinician working toward independent licensure, while Therapist II is a fully licensed clinician with greater autonomy, clinical expertise, and potential supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Clinical Services
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based practices
- Conduct psychosocial assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and federal requirements
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
Collaboration & Care Coordination
- Collaborate with internal teams, schools, medical providers, and community partners
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations
- Coordinate referrals to additional services and resources
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards
- Complete documentation within required timeframes
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Community Engagement
- Provide services in school-based or community-based settings
- Participate in outreach and community education efforts
Work Environment
- Office-based clinical setting with potential community outreach.
- May include evening or occasional weekend sessions to accommodate client needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while conducting therapy sessions and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and community partners.

Distinguishing Responsibilities
Therapist I
- Works under clinical supervision toward full licensure
- Receives regular supervision and case review
- Builds foundational clinical skills and caseload
- May carry a slightly reduced caseload depending on experience
Therapist II
- Independently licensed (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
- Provides clinical leadership
- May assist with supervision of interns or Therapist I staff
- Handles more complex clinical cases with increased autonomy
Minimum Qualifications
Therapist I
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Licensed Associate (e.g., LPC-Associate, LMSW, LMFT-Associate) or license-eligible
- Working toward independent licensure
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic practices
Therapist II
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Fully licensed in the state of Texas (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic, assessment, and treatment planning skills
Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)
- Experience in community mental health or school-based services
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Experience with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
